About Susan McBride

I am a senior financial leader with over 30 years of executive-level corporate finance experience spanning public, private, and private equity–backed organizations. But beneath the decades of business experience lies my true lifelong passion: removing stress and worry for people about their finances.

My love for business began at age seven, running the cash register and doing inventory counts in my father’s small-town hardware store. It was just down valley from Aspen, Colorado, but light years away in terms of the community and salt-of-the-earth people. That early experience instilled a deep respect for hard-working business owners and a profound appreciation for community values. I saw what it did to my father when people stole from him and how it eroded his faith in humanity. I carry this thought with me every day and it dictates how I treat and protect my clients.
Over the years, I moved on and up from the cash register of the hardware store to Controller and Vice-President of Accounting / Finance for several companies across a diverse group of industries. I have participated in Board meetings with industry founders and leaders, worked in family offices of internationally known investors, spearheaded acquisitions for pre-IPO companies and advised business owners.
The Story Behind the Photos

In 2021, I was searching for my own peace in a mid-Covid world. I bought an old stone house in a small Tuscan village (sight-unseen) and moved to Italy to pursue dual citizenship. During my travels, I discovered a 10th century Cistercian monastery that a former (1964) Olympic equestrian and gold medalist spent twenty years restoring. It was a stunning, simplistic compound constructed of old stone with a center cloister anchored by an ancient stone fountain.
One evening, I was visiting with the owner’s daughter and discussing their business over a glass of wine. She informed me that tornados off the coast had taken out the electricity and she was sending her boyfriend out to get candles. When I went to bed, the candles had been placed all over the property so that the only guests that evening, another couple and I, could find our way back to our rooms.

I awoke early the next morning to the fog covered grounds and still partially lit candles and walked in silence with a black cat who had adopted me for the duration of my short stay. During the walk, I imagined monks 1,000 years before walking the same ancient roads, perhaps similarly in awe of the beauty and peacefulness surrounding them.
The photographs featured throughout this website were all captured by me during that quiet morning walk. To me, they embody a sense of simplicity and stillness. That is how I want to live my life and that is what I want to bring to the lives of my clients.
